Bringing the country to the city – animal transport for the Show

The Sydney Royal Easter Show has been celebrating the best of Australia since 1823 and is famously known for bringing the country to the city.

Part of bringing the country to the city for the near 1 million visitors to enjoy, includes the movement of livestock throughout the two-week Show time.

We have reviewed our livestock movement strategy with our partners to refine our process considering the growing local population in and around Sydney Olympic Park.

This year we are trialing a new traffic management strategy to improve local roads and reduce the pressure on Bennelong Parkway.

We will have cattle trucks and horse floats separated with cattle coming in via Holker Busway off Hill Road and horses from Bennelong Parkway onto Marjorie Jackson (shown on map below).

The busiest dates for livestock movement will be:

  • Tuesday 22 March
  • Wednesday 23 March
  • Tuesday 29 March
  • Wednesday 30 March
