Highlight on Futsal: Helping ex-pat Brazilians make new friends

Futsal is a relatively new offering in sport at Sydney Olympic Park with the social competition having only run for a year at our Sports Halls.

The popularity of this sport is proving a hit with locals, providing the chance to build fitness and soccer skills, and importantly creating the opportunity for people to make new friends and connect with one another.

The Pittinga Futsal Club were the winners of our most recent Futsal competition last week. The club is grateful for the competition as it is helping these ex-pat Brazilians feel part of the community.

Eduardo Temporal the team manager shared this with us about Futsal at Sydney Olympic Park…

Team huddle, photo by Delly CarrFutsal is not just part of our culture, but also helps us develop virtues such as discipline, hierarchy and respect, especially in relation to opponents.

At Sydney Olympic Park we have the possibility of making friends. Our team is made up of people who want to somehow help and engage with people of similar interests. We have the opportunity to connect with others.

We also use the sport to maintain a healthy body and mind.”

Now is your chance to join in for next season
If you are keen to have a go at this five-a-side indoor soccer competition now is the time to put your hand up.

The next competition is run on a Tuesday and Thursday night between 7pm-10pm starting 4 and 6 August.
