NSW Seniors Week in the Park

The 2015 NSW Seniors Week was celebrated in the Park this week with activities on offer for our more seasoned community members.

Seniors were able to take part in a range of activities:

  • Disarmed at the Armory Tour
  • Heritage Railway Discovery Tour
  • Brickpit Tour – going to the floor of the Brickpit
  • Fit and Active exercise classes
  • Mini fitness expo

The “Fit and Active” exercise classes were a hit, with a free tailored work out on offer for those wanting to focus on overall strength, fitness and wellbeing.

At the free mini expo seniors had the chance to have a fitness assessment with a qualified fitness professional and the best part, a free mini massage.

The tours were also very popular for those wanting to get out and about in nature. Seniors were also able to learn, and at times reminisce, on the industrial and naval history of the area and our environmental management plans.

The Brickpit tour was a particular treat, as the area is restricted and a guided tour is only offered to the public a few times a year.

NSW Seniors week is a wonderful initiative as it is designed to thank, celebrate and recognise seniors for the role they play and the contributions they make to the NSW community.
