Ask a Park Ranger…Where is your favourite picnic spots?

There are just so many good places to picnic in our parklands at Sydney Olympic Park; you really are spoiled for choice.

Well, I am letting the secret out of the bag. Here are the top 3 spots we rangers like to enjoy a leisurely picnic with friends and family.

1. Wentworth Common
This is by far Sydney Olympic Park’s best kept secret, even on the busiest of days this park is not usually crowded

  • Great flying fox
  • Sand pit for the kids
  • Footy oval sized turf area to kick a ball
  • 6 share BBQs
  • Plenty of shade in the summer
  • Excellent bike tracks with no close motor traffic

Where to find it?
Close to the Brickpit, located off Marjorie Jackson Parkway

2. Twin Shade Sails
You can hire the shelter or just picnic on the huge grass areas around the sails. Bring your BBQ or picnic basket, and you are sure to have a great day out here!

  • Bocce Court (byo boules)
  • Toilets close-by
  • Cycle paths

Where to find it?
Located behind the Treillage in the centre of Bicentennial Park. Closest parking is in P10F.

3. Concord West
This is the quietest part of our busiest parklands, used mainly by savvy locals. It has a separate entrance off Victoria Avenue, Concord, which is why it isn’t as well known.

  • 11 share BBQs
  • Shade shelters can be shared or hired
  • Kids play area
  • Short walk from Concord Station
  • Half basketball court

Where to find it?
Part of Bicentennial Park, entrance is via Victoria Avenue, with closest parking in P10G.
