Buildings that have shaped Australia – Weekend Australian

Matthew Westwood in the Weekend Australian recently wrote an interesting architecture piece on Buildings that have shaped Australia.

The article on the 25th anniversary of Parliament House in Canberra reviewed a selection of architectural projects including  Federation Square; Parliament House; Gallery of Modern Art; Perth Arena; Adelaide Zoo; Museum of Old and New; and Sydney Olympic Park.

Sydney Olympic Park was profiled along with Perth Arena as:

ambitious architectural projects that have added a new dimension to their cities and in some cases regenerated dormant or undesirable sites. Two of them – Sydney Olympic Park and Perth Arena – are sports and entertainment that are catalysts for urban regeneration in their respective cities. Matthew Westwood

This was also a timely story for us as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of Sydney’s winning bid and that famous phrase…”The winner is Syd-n-ney”!
