When the British & Irish Lions came to town

If you ask anyone who was at Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday 13 July, they would tell you that the atmosphere on this night was something quite special.

The Park was flooded with Rugby Union fans as a sell-out crowd came early to the Park to enjoy the restaurants, bars, entertainment and ambience before the game at ANZ Stadium.

Fans painted their faces and adorned everything from kilts to tartan suits and even human kangaroos, adding to the excitement and buzz of the event.

Restaurants in the Park were full of happy diners and Cathy Freeman Park was brimming as the crowd enjoyed a public bar, food stalls, live screen and band that we organised for their enjoyment.

We also put on a spectacular light show for the home-grown fans to enjoy, washing key landmarks gold in support of the Wallabies including ANZ Stadium, Pullman and Novotel Hotels, the Olympic Park station, trees and even the Olympic Cauldron at Sydney Olympic Park.

This was possible thanks to assistance from our friends at ANZ Stadium, ARU, Destination NSW, Accor Sydney Olympic Park Hotels and the Sydney Olympic Park Business Association.

It was certainly a night to remember at Sydney Olympic Park, and a true highlight of our social calendar.
